To permanently delete a Change.org petition, contact support with the email address you used to start your petition. Self-service deletion is not currently available on the Change.org platform.
Steps to delete your petition
- Send an update to your supporters: Post an update to your supporters informing them that you are deleting your petition. Let them know why, if you feel comfortable doing so.
- Contact Change.org support: Contact support through this form with the email address you used to create the petition.
Deleting vs. closing a petition
Deleting a petition is permanent and cannot be undone. If you would rather not permanently delete your petition, you can close it instead from your petition dashboard. When you close a petition:
● The petition remains visible on Change.org
● No new signatures can be added
● You can reopen it and start sharing again when you're ready
● Your petition remains visible and the media may contact you in case of any inquiries or interviews
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I delete my petition myself?
Change.org requires that all petition deletions go through support for security and verification purposes.
Support says they can't find my petition. What should I do?
Make sure you are contacting support from the exact email address you used to create the petition. If you used a different email address, support will not be able to locate your petition. You can also provide the direct petition URL to help locate it.
