Post updates to supporters
Table of Contents
Keep your supporters informed and engaged by posting updates to your Change.org petition. Updates help maintain momentum, share progress on your cause, and encourage supporters to continue spreading the word. Change.org allows you to post both text updates and video updates, giving you flexibility in how you communicate with your audience.
Types of petition updates on Change.org
When you post an update on Change.org, you can choose between two formats:
● Text update: A written update with a headline, body text, and optional photo. Ideal for sharing news, milestones, or calls to action.
● Video update: A video message that allows you to connect with supporters in a more personal way. Video updates can be more engaging and help put a face to your cause.
Video updates are a great option for petition starters who want to build a stronger connection with their supporters, share emotional appeals, or provide updates that benefit from a personal touch.

Who receives your petition updates
When you post an update on Change.org, it is:
● Emailed to supporters who opted in to hear more from you
● Added to your petition page where anyone can read it
Supporters who have opted out of Change.org emails will not receive the update notification, but they can still view updates directly on your petition page.
Limits on Petition Update Emails
To prevent too many emails from being sent to supporters, Change.org has the following limits:
● Maximum of 1 email per 24 hours - If you post more than twice in a day, only one update will be emailed
● Maximum of 3 emails per week - If you post more than four updates in a week, emails will only be sent for the first three
If you exceed these limits, your update will still appear on your petition page, but it will not be sent as an email notification to supporters.
