A Change.org membership is a monthly contribution that supports the platform's mission to help people everywhere create change. When you become a member, you contribute a small amount each month to help improve and maintain the free site.

Change.org is a nonprofit-owned Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), not a traditional charity. This corporate structure allows Change.org to focus on social impact while maintaining financial sustainability.

Note: Change.org membership is available only in certain countries. If you don't see membership options, the program may not be available in your region.

How to become a Change.org member

There are two ways to become a Change.org member:

From the home page

Once you are logged in to Change.org, you will see a membership tab on the home page. Click on this tab and follow the process to become a member.

When promoting a petition

If you promote a petition on Change.org, you will be given the option to become a member as part of the promotion process. This allows you to support both the specific petition and the platform's ongoing mission.

Where your membership contribution goes

Membership contributions support the Change.org platform and mission. Your contributions help:

● Build better free technology for people who want to start and sign petitions

● Fund a small team of campaigners and communications staff who provide strategic advice to petition starters

● Secure media coverage for campaigns

● Connect petition starters to business and government leaders whose decisions impact their lives

● Maintain and improve the platform for users worldwide

Important: Membership contributions go to Change.org to support the platform. They are not paid to individual petition starters or to individual organizations running campaigns.

All revenue Change.org receives is reinvested into the platform to help empower people to win their campaigns every day.

Tax information and receipts

Understanding your contributions

In most countries, Change.org membership contributions go to Change.org, PBC, a public benefit corporation. Keep in mind that contributions to Change.org (both promotions and memberships) are not counted as donations, meaning that you cannot claim them for a tax deduction.

Argentina and South Africa:

In these countries, membership contributions are received by the Change.org Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) US charity that supports citizen-led social movements in countries all over the world.

Please consult your tax advisor to understand the tax implications of your contributions and whether they may qualify for any tax benefits in your jurisdiction.

Annual receipts

Change.org does not issue annual receipts for monthly membership payments at this time. Credit card transaction records or payment processor records are equivalent to receipts.
