Change.org sends emails to keep you informed about petitions, updates, and platform news. This article explains how to control which Change.org emails you receive and how to unsubscribe from specific petitions.
How to access email preferences on Change.org
Manage all your Change.org email settings through your account:
- Go to change.org and log in
- Click the profile icon in the top right corner
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu
- Click Manage communication preferences
- Check or uncheck boxes for the email types you want to receive or stop
- Click Save to apply your changes
How to Unsubscribe from All Change.org Emails
To stop all emails from Change.org, check "I don't want to receive any emails" on the Privacy and preferences page, ensure no other boxes are checked, then click Save.
Transactional Emails Cannot Be Disabled
Some emails are required for account security and transaction records and cannot be unsubscribed from:
● Petition signature confirmations
● Petition creation confirmations
● Monthly subscription receipts
● Petition promotion confirmations
How to unsubscribe from a specific petition
To stop receiving updates from one particular petition while keeping other Change.org emails:
- Open any email from that specific petition
- Scroll to the bottom of the email
- Click the Unsubscribe link

Every Change.org email includes links at the bottom to manage preferences without logging in:

● "See privacy settings" - redirects to your email preferences page
Important notes about email preference changes
● Changes take up to 48 hours - You may still receive some emails while changes take effect
● Multiple accounts - If you continue receiving emails after unsubscribing, check the "To" field in the email. You may have multiple Change.org accounts with different email addresses that need separate preference updates
● Opt back in anytime - Re-enable any email type by returning to Privacy and preferences and checking the desired boxes

When you sign a petition, Change.org creates an account using your email address. To access your email preferences and unsubscribe, you need to set a password first. Go to the Change.org login page and click "Set or Change Password" or "Forgot your password?" Enter your email address, then check your inbox for the password reset link. Click the link to create your password. Once logged in, go to Settings and click Manage communication preferences to update your email settings.
