Change.org sends emails to keep you informed about petitions, updates, and platform news. This article explains how to control which Change.org emails you receive and how to unsubscribe from specific petitions.

How to access email preferences on Change.org

Manage all your Change.org email settings through your account:

Go to Change.org and log in

Click the profile icon in the top right corner

Select Settings from the dropdown menu

Click Manage communication preferences

Check or uncheck boxes for the email types you want to receive or stop

Click Save to apply your changes

How to Unsubscribe from All Change.org Emails

To stop all emails from Change.org, check "I don't want to receive any emails" on the Email preferences page, ensure no other boxes are checked, then click Save.

Transactional Emails Cannot Be Disabled

Some emails are required for account security and transaction records and cannot be unsubscribed from:

● Petition signature confirmations

● Petition creation confirmations

● Monthly subscription receipts

● Petition promotion confirmations

Manage emails using footer links

To stop a particular kind of message, open a relevant email, scroll to the footer, and select Unsubscribe from this kind of message. This stops that category of email.

To change other email settings, select Manage your email preferences. This opens your email preference controls.

Stop emails from a specific petition

To stop update emails from one petition, open an update email from that petition and select If you want to stop update emails about this petition, click here in the footer. On the page that opens, enter your email address and complete the process. This stops update emails from that petition only. You will continue to receive all other Change.org emails according to your preferences.

If the email address you enter has not received updates from that petition, you will see an error. Re-enter the email address that received the petition updates.

To resume update emails from that petition, contact Change.org support and provide your email address and the petition URL.

Important notes about email preference changes

● Changes take up to 48 hours - You may still receive some emails while changes take effect

● Multiple accounts - If you continue receiving emails after unsubscribing, check the "To" field in the email. You may have multiple Change.org accounts with different email addresses that need separate preference updates

● Opt back in anytime - Re-enable any email type by returning to Email preferences page and checking the desired boxes

I never created an account but I'm getting emails. How do I unsubscribe?

When you sign a petition, Change.org creates an account using your email address. To access your email preferences and unsubscribe, go to the Change.org login page and enter the email address you used to sign the petition. Select Continue, check that email for a verification code, and enter the code to log in. If you previously set a password, select Use password instead on the verification-code screen. Once logged in, go to Settings and click Manage communication preferences to update your email settings.
