Understanding language settings on Change.org How to change your account language setting How to use the location selector

You can manage the language settings of your Change.org account from your profile. This article explains the two different ways to control language on Change.org and when to use each one.

Understanding language settings on Change.org

Change.org has two separate language controls that serve different purposes:

● Account language setting: Controls the language of your logged-in experience and all emails from Change.org. This is a permanent setting tied to your account.

● Location selector: Controls what regional content and language you see when browsing the website without logging in. This is a temporary, browser-based setting that resets when you clear cookies.

If you want a consistent experience across devices and want your emails in a specific language, update your account language setting. If you just need to quickly browse the site in a different language without logging in, use the location selector.

How to change your account language setting

Your account language setting controls which language you see on Change.org when logged in and which language emails are sent in. Follow these steps to update it:

  1. Log into your account at Change.org
  2. Click on your name or profile photo in the top-right corner of the page to open the dropdown menu

  1. Click Save to keep your changes

After saving, Change.org will display in your selected language whenever you are logged in, and all emails from Change.org will be sent in that language.

How to use the location selector

The location selector lets you change the website display language when you are not logged in or want to quickly browse regional content:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of any Change.org page
  2. Look for the location selector in the bottom right-hand corner of the footer
  3. Click on it and select your preferred country/language

This setting is stored in your browser and will reset if you clear your cookies. For a permanent language change that follows you across devices, log into your Change.org account and update your account language setting instead.
