When you post an update on Change.org, you can choose between two formats:

How to post a petition update on Change.org

You must be logged into the Change.org account you used to create the petition to post updates.

1. Click on the petition you want to update. This opens your petition dashboard.
   
2. Scroll down to find the Update Your Supporters section and click the Post an Update button.
   
3. You will be presented with a choice between posting a video update or a text update. Select the format you prefer.
4. For a text update (shown in the screenshots below): Add a headline and the text of your update. You can also upload a photo to make your update more attention-grabbing.
   
5. For a video update: Follow the prompts to record or upload your video message.
6. You can preview your update before posting.
7. When you are ready, click the Post button. This will send your update to any supporters who opted in to hear more, and will also be added to your petition page.

Note: The screenshots in this article show the text update flow. If you choose to post a video update, the interface will guide you through recording or uploading your video.

Who receives your petition updates

When you post an update on Change.org, it is:

● Emailed to supporters who opted in to hear more from you

● Added to your petition page where anyone can read it

Supporters who have opted out of Change.org emails will not receive the update notification, but they can still view updates directly on your petition page.

Limits on Petition Update Emails

To prevent too many emails from being sent to supporters, Change.org has the following limits:

● Maximum of 1 email per 24 hours - If you post more than twice in a day, only one update will be emailed

● Maximum of 3 emails per week - If you post more than four updates in a week, emails will only be sent for the first three

If you exceed these limits, your update will still appear on your petition page, but it will not be sent as an email notification to supporters.

Edit or delete an existing update

To modify an update you have already posted:

1. Go to your petition dashboard and click View Petition at the top of the screen
2. Scroll down to the Updates section on your petition page
3. Find the update you want to modify and click on it
4. Below the update title, you will see options to Edit or Delete the update

Important: Changes made to a petition update after it has been published will only be reflected on the main petition page. No correction email will be sent to your supporters.
