If you're unsatisfied with a Change.org contribution or membership charge, you can request a refund by contacting our Support team. Change.org will issue refunds for both petition promotions and membership charges if you're unsatisfied for any reason, provided you request the refund within 3 months of making the contribution or charge.
Important: Change.org reserves the right not to issue refunds in cases of abuse.
Understanding promotion and membership charges
Change.org offers two types of contributions that may appear on your statement:
● Promoting a petition: A one-time contribution to help make a specific petition more visible to people who may be interested in signing it.
● Monthly membership: A recurring contribution that supports the Change.org platform. After you promote a petition, Change.org offers the option to become a monthly member. Some people accidentally agree to monthly membership not realizing they signed up for recurring payments.
The refund policy is the same for both types of charges: refunds are available within 3 months of the charge date.
How to request a refund
To request a refund from Change.org, contact our Support team using the email address associated with your contribution or membership. If you are not sure which email address you used, please include the following information in your request:
● The last 4 digits of your credit card or payment method
● The date of the transaction, amount of the charge, and the currency (e.g. 10 USD on 2025 Dec 10)
● Card brand (e.g. VISA, or MasterCard)
● The name on the card
If the payment was made via PayPal, you can simply provide the PayPal transaction screenshot (displayed with the date of transaction, amount of charge, and the currency).
This information helps our Support team locate your payment quickly and process your refund request.
Canceling your membership along with a refund
If you have an active Change.org membership and request a refund for recurring charges, our Support team can cancel your membership at the same time to ensure no future charges occur. See our Change.org membership program article for more details on managing your membership.
What if I can't find my payment?
If our Support team cannot immediately locate your payment in their records, providing the additional information listed above (last 4 digits of card, date and amount of charge, name on card) will help them search more thoroughly. Sometimes payments are made using a different email address than you might remember, or by someone else in your household.
Frequently Asked Questions
I was charged twice—how do I get a refund?
Contact Support with the details of both charges. Multiple charges can sometimes occur due to unintentional extra clicks, if you become a member with different emails, or due to an unintended recurring membership. Support will review your records, confirm what payments were processed, and issue refunds if appropriate.
What if my charge was more than 3 months ago?
Change.org's refund policy covers charges made within the past 3 months. This applies to both promotion contributions and membership charges. If your charge was more than 3 months ago, contact Support to discuss your specific situation.
