How to permanently delete your account Permanent deletion vs. disabling your account What happens to your petitions when you delete your account Frequently Asked Questions I can only find the option to disable my account - where is the delete option? Can I undo account deletion after it's done? Will I lose all my signature records if I delete my account?

If you want to permanently delete your Change.org account and all personal data associated with it, you must contact Change.org support. This is different from disabling your account, which is temporary and reversible. Permanent account deletion cannot be undone. If you are unsure whether you want to permanently delete your account, consider disabling it instead - see the article Disable your Change.org account for a reversible option.

How to permanently delete your account

To permanently delete your Change.org account:

  1. Contact Change.org support at help@change.org from the email address associated with your account
  2. In your message, clearly state that you want to permanently delete your account and all personal data
  3. Support will process your deletion request and confirm when it's complete

Permanent deletion vs. disabling your account

It's important to understand the difference between these two options:

● Disabling your account: Temporary and reversible. You can reactivate your account later by contacting support. Your petitions remain active. You can disable your account yourself through Account Settings. See Disable your Change.org account for instructions.

● Permanently deleting your account: Permanent and cannot be undone. All your personal data is removed from Change.org systems. You must contact support to request permanent deletion.

If you only want to take a break from Change.org but may want to return later, disabling your account is the better choice since it is reversible.

What happens to your petitions when you delete your account

If you request account deletion while having petitions you created, Change.org will reach out to you to confirm whether you want your petitions deleted too. In case you don’t want them deleted, we will request that you post an update to your petition supporters so that they are informed before your account is deleted.

Important: Deleting your Change.org account does NOT automatically delete petitions you created unless you specifically request this. Your petitions will remain active on the platform even after your account is deleted.

For more information about deleting petitions, see "Delete your petition"

Frequently Asked Questions

I can only find the option to disable my account - where is the delete option?

Permanent deletion is not available as a self-service option. You must contact Change.org support to request permanent account deletion. The disable option you see in Account Settings is a reversible alternative that preserves your data.

Can I undo account deletion after it's done?

No. Permanent account deletion cannot be undone. Once your account and personal data are deleted, they cannot be recovered. If you think you might want to return later, consider disabling your account instead.

Will I lose all my signature records if I delete my account?

Yes. If you delete your account, you will not be able to access your signature records.
